Sutton resident Helen Hill will be trekking across the spectacular Kenyan landscape in November, following the news that she had won the Hike for Hope competition organised by The Mall Ashley in Epsom.
The Mall Ashley will be sponsoring Helen – and one of their own security guards, Andy O’Donnell, from West Ewell – on the Hike for Hope. The trek will raise money to help find cures for prostate and gynaecological cancers.
Last year’s first ever Hike for Hope saw 104 people trek across the
Jordanian desert raising over £600,000. This second challenge will be raising money for The Mall Ashley’s chosen charity for 2007 - WellBeing of Women, funding vital health research - plus the Prostate Research Campaign. The five-day trek along the extinct volcanoes of the Rift Valley in Kenya sees participants camping under African skies, climbing an extinct volcano, hiking wild animal trails and, at the end of the trek, joining a game drive. Andy and Helen will be working with personal trainer Guy Hampson who will ensure they are in peak physical condition to undertake the gruelling trek.
