The Friends of South Park Gardens have received an offer of help from local car-sharing scheme, City Car Club, based in Prince’s Road. The Friends are putting up a marquee to house events for the new Wimbledon Bookfest in October, and have been seeking local sponsors to help with the costs. Organiser Jil Hall commented: ‘We’re delighted. City Car Club are donating enough to fund the purchase of recyclable glasses and compostable plates and cutlery, for use at the Indian dinner on Saturday 13th October, something we really wanted to do – and they are also offering free membership of the car club to one lucky diner.’
