Laura’s marathon boost for Childline

Laura StevensSutton resident and Granada Television assistant producer, Laura Stevens, is running this year’s London Marathon to raise an ambitious £1,800 for Childline – and she’s going to do it all with two metal pins in her knee.

A few years ago Laura couldn’t run at all. She had a recurring dislocation of her kneecap. Then she had an operation at St Helier Hospital to re-align her patella tendon and now she’s out running four or five times a week. Laura works on the popular programme Sixty Minute Makeovers and one of her ideas is to get the show’s production team together for a fund-raising party. She also plans to pack bags at a Sutton supermarket in return for donations and to do one or two other ‘crazy things’ to help Childline. ‘One in four calls to Childline doesn’t get answered because there are not enough people to take the calls,’ said Laura. ‘The money I raise will hopefully pay for someone else to help take the calls.’ Laura has set up her own website, so anyone who wishes to support her and Childline is invited to visit www.justgiving.com/laurastevens.
