React, the national children’s charity based in Kew, is looking for volunteers. The charity is aiming to start up regional volunteer networks across the country, starting in their local areas of Surrey and SW London. React (Rapid Effective Assistance for Children with potentially Terminal illness) provides basic essential aid for low-income families who are caring for seriously ill children at home. Examples include specialist medical and mobility equipment, essential domestic items, hospital travel expenses and respite holidays. It has been operating and growing successfully for 18 years, and in 2007, the charity helped 1,232 children suffering from serious and degenerative illnesses to have greater dignity and quality of life.
Charlotte Grobien, Managing Director of the charity Give It Away, said, ‘Some families seem to suffer such hardship both financially and practically as their lives are turned upside down caring for a severely needy child; it is good to witness such a devoted and practical approach to helping them.’
To get involved with the important work that React undertakes, contact Jeanette and find out how you can help.
