'Bikeability courses for the Easter holidays'

Last year the Bikeability courses successfully trained over 1000 children and
this year hundreds more across the borough will be throwing away their
L-plates over Easter.

Many Kingston secondary schools insist on pupils achieving Bikeability
Level 2 before allowing them to ride to school and 11-year-old Emily
Cooke the Junior Road Safety Officer at Burlington Junior
School, is thrilled to have recently passed. Emily says: "The training
has given me the confidence to be able to ride safely on the roads, and
it makes the journey to school that much quicker and more fun!"

The Bikeability courses are a combination of theory and tuition covering
the Highway Code, bike-handling skills and most importantly on-road
training. The Council now offers Bikeability Level 3 courses for
children who have successfully completed Bikeability Level 2.

Bookings are currently being taken for the Easter holiday courses which
run either week starting on 7 April in various locations throughout the
borough.

For further information, or to book your child on one of the Easter
courses, please contact the Road Safety and Travel Awareness Unit on 020
8547 5865 or email road.safety@rbk.kingston.gov.uk
