Clive Anderson was in his element as quizmaster, but it was his role as auctioneer that stole the show. Alternately wheedling, cajoling and demanding, he drove up the bidding for such lots as an Arsenal Emirates Stadium Box for the first matchof the 2007/8 season, Corinthian Club seats at the 2007 FA Cup Final at Wembley, a limited edition David Linley Mirror and a VIP weekend break in New York. Even "shares" in Trinity¹s own nurses were auctioned off, raising an additional £13,000 in the process! Richard Briance, chairman of Trinity Hospice's Board of Trustees said: "We first held this event last year and it was so successful it raised more than any other event in Trinity's history - that we voted then to make it an annual event. We were determined to beat last year¹s total and we are delighted that we have achieved our aims and then some! The money will be used to fund specialist nursing, in the community and within the Trinity Hospice itself. We will definitely be back next year and we are already looking for sponsors!"
Trinity Hospice is hoping for a record turnout on Saturday 30th June, when The Ionian Singers will give a fundraising concert in Holy Trinity Church, Clapham Common North Side. The concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £15 (or £5 for students) and include wine during the interval. They can be
obtained at the door or in advance by telephoning 020 8693 1051, 07950 143
916 or emailing info@ioniansingers.co.uk.
