Celebrating 150 issues

On a frosty autumn day in 2004 a new magazine was born. Time & Leisure popped its way through letterboxes across Clapham, Battersea and Fulham and, so we hear, quickly found a home in your local hearts. We’re so grateful for all your support and involvement. There are so many incredible people that we’ve met through the years and stories that we’ve been able to feature, right on our doorstep.

Supporting the arts has been key to keeping the thread of local life alive in our magazines. Our area has always been a hive of creative talent in music, literary works, theatre and art - all of which can be found in our favourite local hotspots such as Battersea Arts Centre and Pumphouse Gallery, and showcased in annual events such as the Affordable Art Fair and the Urban Art Fair. We’ve featured a host of local events at iconic places such as Fulham Palace, Brixton Windmill and Battersea Park. South London’s skyline continues to develop (with Battersea Power Station being a big one!) and we look forward to reporting on further changes over the next 150 issues.

Fiona Shield, Editor-in-Chief
"Clapham, Battersea and Fulham have a distinctive vibrancy and energy that shows through their burgeoning food scenes, the many art and music festivals, the fitness possibilities and the caring communities. I live in Clapham myself and have so much pride in celebrating these areas in our Time & Leisure pages."

Michelle Morgan, Sales Manager for nine years
"It has been a pleasure supporting some of the amazing local events in our area, such as the Urban Art Fair, Abbeville Road Fête, St John’s Hill Festival, Ritherdon Road Festival, Northend Road Christmas Market/Fair, The “I Love Fulham” initiative, Balham Food Festival and much more. These events help us to keep abreast of the community and feel a part of the great spirit of our local areas of Clapham, Battersea, Balham & Fulham. I’m sure the future will bring many more interesting events and activities, and I give a big ‘thank you’ to all the businesses and readers who have supported us over the years."

Lucy Kane, Owner-Publisher
"I launched Time & Leisure magazine in Clapham, Battersea and Fulham as this area of SW London is so vibrant, offering a perfect mix of London and suburban lifestyle for families and young professionals. It’s an area I’ve loved living in, socialising, going to live music, theatre and arts, and is the food and drink mecca of SW London. All are close to our heart at Time & Leisure magazine and our readers. Jon Watt, previous Editor
"In my time as Editor I witnessed some remarkable events in the area – from a whale in the Thames at Battersea, the infamous Broom Army, London electing a Mayor from Tooting and developers finally kicking off the restoration of Battersea Power Station, to the return of polo in Fulham, Aussie Rules Football posts going up on Clapham Common and Brixton launching its own currency. I also came into contact with some truly inspiring people, from famous faces such as Orla Kiely, Vivienne Westwood and Gordon Ramsay, to entrepreneurs starting small businesses and charities trying to help our local population"
