Brazilian BBQ & More

In celebration of London passing the torch to Rio for the 2016 Olympic Games, T&L has rounded up a list of local Brazilian restaurants.

Brazilian food is famous for serving savoury cuts of meat on large skewers that have been cooked over an open flame. Several of the restaurants on this list are rodizio style – a traditional Brazilian type of service where waiters bring around different cuts of meat at a fixed price. So make sure to bring your appetite!

Rodizio Preto
Select from over 18 dishes like fresh cut vegetables, salads and traditional Brazilian side dishes. Servers bring around 15 different cuts of spit roasted meats. The unlimited sizzling meats are carved table side by passadores. There is live music every Monday and Thursday in Putney.
31-33 Putney High Street, London, SW15 1SP
39 Queenstown Road, London, SW8 3RE

Cafe Brazil
For less meat and more variety, head over to Cafe Brazil. They serve up an assortment of dishes like pizza, pastas, salads and feijoada. Feijoada is a stew of blank beans with beef and pork, and is considered Brazil’s national dish. Be sure to try one of their Brazilian cocktails like Batida de Coco – coconut milk, cachaca and condensed milk.

Nabrasa
Nabrasa serves only halal meat (permissible under Islamic law). There is a hot and cold buffet featuring fresh salads and homemade desserts. Sip on a drink from their large selection of cocktails and wines. Non-alcoholic drinks and smoothies are available too. Live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

Part restaurant, part grocery store, Katavento is perfect for sampling Brazilian food at very reasonable prices. This intimate restaurant has outdoor seating and is known for its delicious pastries like escondidinho. Similar to an English cottage pie, escondidinho has layers of meat, potatoes and cheese.

Not a carnivore? Not a problem! Tia Mia has vegetarian options in the form of their signature wraps. The reasonably priced menu also has a variety of starters, mains and grill options. This Brazilian Bar and Restaurant has a great atmosphere, and live music most nights.
