From outside it looks like any other traditional Victorian semi, but step inside Gordon House and you soon realise there is a lot more than meets the eye.

Just 12 months ago it was a wreck that had been sitting empty for almost 18 months. After a major renovation project it has been transformed into a gorgeous modern family home, valued at £3,995,000.

The house still had many of its original features, so it is little surprise that it was snapped up by Shandon Property for development. The end result is a 4,530 sq ft, six-bedroom house with home cinema, spa/steam room, gym and a self-contained flat for a nanny on the lower floor. The renovation cost was £1.5m with the biggest challenge being the creation of the 1500 Sq ft basement.

Gajaro Interiors were brought in as designers to create the flow and feel for the house. The ground floor has been cleverly designed to be both spacious and cosy. With oak flooring throughout, the entire floor can be used as one massive open plan area or separated into two reception rooms and a kitchen/dinner/family room by sliding doors.

Martina Korbasova, from Shandon Property Investments, said: ‘We wanted to create a spacious, luxurious Victorian family house. We focused on the flow of the house so that all the rooms would be used. We also wanted the house to feel homely and cater for modern storage needs. To make sure the house didn’t feel too big we created intimate spaces that can be opened by clever use of pocket sliding doors, so you can have a quiet dinner for four or a cocktail party for a hundred guests.’

The kitchen, dining and family rooms are flooded with light from windows that span the rear of the house opening on to a south-facing garden giving beautiful space outdoors too!
