Have you checked your health and nutrition credit rating recently?
Being a busy Pilates teacher I rarely get the chance to check my own health ‘bank’ balance these days. So it was lucky when I met Maria Jevtic. It was in October at a Macmillan coffee morning as part of Pink Ribbon awareness month. Maria is a Homeopath and Nutritionist. This was a great chance to share lifestyle issues – and get instant expert advice.
But her first advice was in the form of an inspiring concept… and here’s how the conversation went:
Julia: so how would I boost my immune system given my chaotic daily schedule?
Maria: first of all let me share my ‘health’ bank balance concept; it’s all about credits and debits…
Julia: that’s a really good analogy, so you can put nutritional fitness in your ‘body’ bank?
Maria: my idea generally is to explain ‘what is health’ - how come some people can smoke 10 a day and never die of lung cancer and another person can smoke one cigarette and die of the disease; you are born with a certain level and rating of ‘health’ credit - then you pay in credits and take out debits on an everyday basis – you are in charge of how your original health investment increases… or decreases…
And so our conversation took off – but always relating back to the bottom line of our health bank balance!
On my part – when and what to eat to fit in with my hectic schedule, and for Maria – how to balance her exercise regime. A lot of what we shared was about boosting our immune systems – in time for winter. But we also discussed how to motivate ourselves and our clients for the New Year plus investing in a balanced approach for extreme exercise, as part of successful preparation for the Spring marathon season.
Then we thought of how we could share this ‘expert’ conversation - the T&L guest blog of course - where else!?
We’re also posting the conversation, on our own web sites, for you to read in full. But you’ll hear about it here first, topic-by-topic, on the T&L guest blog.
