Not So Desperate Housewives In Kingston

Fans of theatre production company Oddsocks will know that you should expect surprises from their shows – and this production of Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor is true to form.

OddsocksOddsocks is treating the bard’s comedy as if it were a sitcom and setting it in a TV studio. As the audience, you are invited to imagine you are watching a live recording of a comedy show. You’ll be joining in with laughter and applause and actually being a part of the whole show which takes its inspiration from 50s Britain and the birth of rock and roll!

Oddsocks’ inspired approach to Shakespeare's plays and their trademark family friendly, madcap, slapstick style have made them famous and popular –old hands will be thrilled to meet once more Oddsocks regulars Elli Mackenzie (as Mistress Page/Mistress Quickly) and Andy McGillan (as Falstaff) as well as newcomers Paul O'Neill (Master Ford),  Avita Jay (Mistress Ford/Anne Page) and Taresh Solanki. (Master Page) – and if you have never been to an Oddsocks production make this your first resolution of 2012 and book now.

The Merry Wives of Windsor is at Performing Arts Centre, Kingston Grammar School on 21 January. Tickets, priced £16 for adults, £14 for concessions and £10 for children, are available online from www.oddsocks.co.uk

Sarah Hodgson is a regular at local theatres, and Editor-in-Chief at Time & Leisure Media Group.
