There are many reasons that these children cannot live at home with their birth family. We work closely with the families in the hope that they can return home but sometimes that just isn’t possible. Fostering with Sutton is a challenging but rewarding task involving looking after children in your own home. We have 75 foster carers currently looking after these children ensuring that they are safe, healthy and getting a good education. This still isn’t enough. We often have to move children out of the borough which involves changing schools and leaving friends and family behind. If we could offer more placements within the borough this added loss and chaos would not happen. We offer a weekly allowance which is well above the national average and is dependent on the age of the child or children you are looking after. As a foster carer with Sutton, you would be an integral part of the fostering team working alongside social workers and other professionals for the best interest of the children. There are several support groups run by current carers and we offer training on issues such as health and safety, behavioural issues as well as the possibility of undertaking an NVQ level 3 qualification.
