He went on to open a successful deli in Fulham, offering some of his favourite dishes as take home ‘cheats’ for dinner parties. For two years Andrew left the UK and cooked in Peralta, Italy; Vail, Colorado and Mexico, to name a few, where he gathered many influences to ingest into his varied style of cooking. For the last 10 years Andrew has cooked for private clients not only around the UK but the odd Chateau and villa in France, and he is a regular cook at the exclusive music symposium at Prussia Cove in Cornwall - one hundred diners per night for two weeks. Oh yes! Another client was the Queen! Andrew cooked for Princess Anne when the Queen came for the weekend. Andrew’s weeks vary enormously – a private dinner for eight at Emma Soames, Daily Telegraph journalist; a lunch for 50 for Stephen Norris, (ex-MP); canapés for 150 for a drinks party taking his special team of waiting staff; filling freezers in Chelsea and Muswell Hill. Every menu is bespoke, after discussion with the client, to suit the occasion. Andrew sources ingredients from many places and buys in season from London markets – North End Road and Borough, or Golbourne Road to buy Moroccan spices and Portuguese cured meats. If a client wants all their ingredients from Harrods, he’s only too happy to shop there! He gives cookery lessons in people’s homes. It is a great day for a group of friends ending with a meal together, also an unusual gift for birthday or Christmas. Andrew is in great demand at Christmas, in the past he’s cooked at a French Chateau, a Stud farm near Henley and an Old Rectory in Suffolk. |
