Sutton Music Centre – a family business headed by session drummer Mark Allis – has long been the focus of musical activity in the borough and beyond, but Mark has been busy driving the centre forward in the last year, adding studios for practice, tuition and recording and expanding opportunities for young musicians to showcase their talents in live performances. Among Mark’s new initiatives are regular, fortnightly Sunday afternoon Music Sessions, where up-and-coming talent can take to the in-store acoustic stage, play to appreciative audiences and meet new faces. Another new project is the Rock and Pop Choir. Youngsters sing arrangements of classic hits in a relaxed and friendly environment, under expert guidance, every Wednesday evening. There are no auditions and everyone aged 15 or over is welcome. For more visit: www.suttonmusiccentre.co.uk or call 020 8642 2838.
