Alberto Crisci and daughter Alana taste of success Sun shines brightly on the winners at the T&L Food Awards

Television chef Antonio Carluccio, Bruce Poole of Chez Bruce, Shay Cooper of The Bingham, Alberto Crisci from Banstead Prison’s The Clink and The One Show reporter Angellica Bell lent some celebrity glamour to the inaugural T&L Food Awards ceremony at Le Gothique in Wandsworth, last month.

The sunny courtyard at Le Gothique was the perfect setting for the ceremony which was sponsored by South London Business. Guests included nominees and their friends and supporters, T&L clients and readers, and local chefs and dignitaries.

There was also a sumptuous array of tasting tables from our local area, including Moens, Moxons, Union Hand Roasted Coffee, Bennetts Oysters, Drury Tea, Revelstoke Wines, Norbiton Cheese, Vallebona and Adnams.

The T&L Food Awards invited our readers to nominate their favourite local establishments – delis, restaurants, takeaways, wine retailers – and the votes came pouring in, proving that T&L readers truly care about food, wine, entertaining and eating out.

The results saw local venues take the Best Private Dining awards: Galu of Banstead secured the Highly Commended award in that category and Nonsuch Mansion was acclaimed as the winner. Alberto Crisci, the man who founded the ground-breaking Clink Restaurant inside Banstead’s High Down Prison, was on hand to present awards for Best Front of House: Piccolino, Wimbledon, and Trinity, in Clapham tied for Highly Commended Awards and Warren House, Kingston won the category.

A big thank you to everyone who took part: readers and voters, nominees, winners and highly commended participants. Keep an eye our for next year’s poll!
