Children’s Trust unveils unique Christmas card The Children’s Trust’s Unique Child Christmas card for 2011, The Snowflake, has been created by Joshua, 8, who received rehabilitation with the charity for an acquired brain injury. The specialist care and therapy he received at the trust helped him to regain some of his lost skills and confidence. The Tadworth-based Children’s Trust is also delighted to announce that it has been chosen as Colemans Solicitors’ Charity of the Year.

Mayor of Kingston’s Charity Pub Challenge Help raise as much money as possible for the Mayor of Kingston’s nominated charities, Macmillan Cancer Support and Born too Soon, at The Broadway Bar in Tolworth on Saturday 3 December at 8 pm (arrival from 7.30pm). It’s a charity quiz show, hosted by two experienced quizmasters. The Mayor, Councillor Patrick Codd, and the Mayoress, Mrs Susan Codd will be entering a team. Born Too Soon is T&L’s chosen charity for 2012 - so it’s all in a great cause.

Local author Karen Inglis took the inspiration for her new children’s book, The Secret Lake, (wellsaidpress.com) from the Still Pond at Isabella Plantation in Richmond Park at azalea time in May. Winning designs by Pascal Anson, Kingston University art and design lecturer, have been chosen in a competition to adorn 12 British Airways planes flying athletes, guests and dignitaries to and from the London 2012 Olympic games. We can’t show you his designs yet, but going on his work before, including this wooden car, they will be spectacular! The competition judges included Tracey Emin who will become Pascal’s mentor until the planes take to the skies in February 2012.

Social calendar highlights Richmond’s annual May Fair Ball in 2011 year drew a prestigious guest list of prominent figures including Samantha Bond, Jerry Hall, Sir Trevor MacDonald, Lynn Faulds Wood and John Stapleton. Guests are already reserving their places for next year’s event to be held on Friday 11 May 2012. Proceeds go to SPEAR and the Orange Tree Theatre’s Community and Education Programme. Tickets at £125 pp include champagne reception, a gourmet dinner with wine and dancing.
