Time & Leisure’s fashion show will headline with the Spring Summer ’10 collection by Nicole Farhi.

The Spring Summer ’10 collection celebrates the unexpected. Bold combinations of colour and shape create this joyful collection for the woman with a confident attitude and a sense of fun.

The palette is inspired by the German Expressionist watercolour artist, Emile Nolde; the colours are at odds with each other, fusing in a spontaneous and assertive combination of block and print. The opening look shows an oversized lilac taffeta trench with contrast chartreuse lining over a knitted teal bandeau top and strawberry pink cotton shorts. The prints are graphic and abstract; brushstroke striped organza and Ikat weave taffeta have blurred definition, giving a painterly edge to the collection.

There is a sportswear influence in shape and feel, with double-ended zip front coats, shirt dresses, drawstring jackets and wide-legged trousers. Laminated raffia and bonded linen add a sculptural element to the collection; asymmetric hems, angular necklines and heavy viscose dresses in irregular shapes move freely over the body.

The accessories are playful with hard geometric rings and bangles in strong colours. Plaited leather shoes with solid wooden heels and soft leather miss-matched clutches complete the contrast look.
