This internship is an excellent opportunity to receive online training in many aspects of the website and contribute to our growing digital department.
Your role will involve researching and preparing articles for our website and newsletter, sourcing accompanying images, participating in weekly content planning meetings, reworking and uploading magazine content online, and assisting the online team in general.
You will gain experience working in a publishing environment, and writing in a style appropriate for online versus printed use. You will also learn how to make use of search engines and social media to publicise your articles. You will learn how to use a content management system to publish articles online, and also use Photoshop for image editing.
You will also have the opportunity to learn about the monthly magazine publishing cycle from initial editorial planning to finished publication, taking part in key events and meetings throughout the process.
The internship is an unpaid position, a minimum 8 weeks long, full time, based within the online team, reporting to the Online Manager. Dress code: Smart/casual office wear, no jeans or trainers.
Writing, journalism, publishing degree or similar
Proven writing ability, attention to detail, and confidence with computers and the internet are essential. Experience writing online blogs, journals or similar, and experience using Photoshop or similar image editing software is also advantageous. The local nature of our magazines makes this position ideally suited to residents of SW London with a good knowledge of the area.
