The [mine] gallery situated in the heart of picturesque Carshalton village, is following its successful winter show with an equally ambitious and wide ranging spring show, which will run from March until May.
Gallery director, Andrew Candy is promising a mixed-media extravaganza with local artists well represented. There will be jewellery, glass, collages and bronzes among the works on show. Gallery regulars, John Stillman, Neil Vaughan and Abel Kesteven will be featured; also Cheam sculptor Peter Newsome and freelance artist Jane Jones.
Jane Jones graduated in theatre design and production and has a successful career as a prop maker/designer, specialising in decorative and sculptural work, including masks and puppets. Her clients include The Royal Opera House, Shakespeare’s Globe and The Old Vic. Her work as a prop maker involves her experimenting with a wide range of materials, techniques and processes that inform and influence her work as an independent artist which she undertakes in parallel with her theatre work.
Jane’s love of art and a childhood fascination with collage has led her to create pictures with torn and cut paper (above), delicately utilising colour and textures to create highly distinctive images.
