The Wimbledon Tennis Championship is fast progressing but tickets to the grounds aren’t necessary to enjoy the matches in good company. The following are a selection of venues to watch the games amongst fellow spectators:
Great British Summer Outdoor Screens has organised multiple free screenings around central London. New Street Square, Cardinal Place Victoria, and South Bank will all have free outdoor screenings of the finals.
For more information visit www.greatbritishsummer12.com.
If you prefer a traditional pub atmosphere, plenty of establishments across London will be showing the games. Local places include O’Neill’s, which boasts five screens and is open till 2am Fridays and Saturdays. The Alexandra has a large pull down screen and two high definition screens. In addition to the sports bar, there are lounges and a rooftop terrace available to relax in between sets. You could book a table online at the Fox and Grapes, ranked 26 of Gastropubs top 50, or try The Durell Arms which has multiple indoor HD projectors and wifi.
For a spirited and more sports focused atmosphere several bars and restaurants will do the trick. BlueBird Chelsea will be screening the games live on their large outdoor patio, famously fashioned to look like a tennis court adorned with giant tennis balls. Frankie’s Sports Bar and Grill is known for their sportive atmosphere and will undoubtedly be a great place to watch the game.
For a truly immersive experience Clapham Picture House will be screening the Men and Women’s Finals in 3D. Odeon will also be screening the Men’s Finals in 3D in selected cinemas.
