Aladdin at the Colour House Theatre

Grant Bickell and some little reviewers check out the Colour House Theatre’s 25th pantomime.

Getting out of bed was a nicer experience for my niece Georgia, 4, on Saturday morning as we broke the exciting news she was heading to a show at one of London’s greatest children’s theatres, Aladdin at the Colour House Theatre in Merton Abbey Mills. She joined the talented cast of Aladdin as they brought the genie to life played by EastEnders actor John Altman (aka Nick Cotton).

Who would ever imagine a Disney phenomenon could be turned into a classic pantomime with a dose of baby shark, the musical trend that swept the UK last year. The Artistic Director and the team had a vision that they knew would annoy parents but be loved by children, and it just worked.

Georgia, her brother and the rest of the children in the theatre took to the floors as the excitement and enjoyment was all fulfilled in the hour spectacular.

The Colour House Theatres production, their 25th pantomime, is all perfectly serviceable, and every child and adult had a blast.

Aladdin is on at the Colour House Theatre with weekend performances until 26 January 2020.
