Deen City Farm
Tucked away in the borough of Merton, the Deen City Farm is a bit of a hidden gem and a great way to engage your children in the value of nature and wildlife. Residents on this urban farm include cows, chicken and ducks, with the more obscure creatures including an alpaca, ferrets and goats. For kids with a love of riding, there is a Riding School offering lessons for all abilities.

Battersea Park Children’s Zoo
Regent’s Park step aside, Battersea Park is home to an expertly curated children’s zoo with a host of exotic animals from ring-tailed lemurs to chipmunks. There is an adventure playground with a sand pit, tractor and fire engine to keep your children entertained and a cosy cafe onsite.

Winkworth Arboretum
This National Trust woodland is located just to the south of the Surrey Hills and is a driveable distance from south west London making it a viable option for a day trip. It’s not your ordinary park, with hundreds of different species of trees from across the globe making it spectacular throughout the year – bursting with life in springtime, and a fiery blaze of kaleidoscopic colour during autumn.

Hampton Open Air Pools
This gorgeous lido is just a 10 minute drive away from the palace and is at its best during the spring and summer when the verdant surrounds of the pool are taken up by families hosting picnics and get-togethers. You can easily spend an entire day lazing on the grass, popping to the charming rooftop cafe for a slice of cake and coffee, or enjoying food at one of their outdoor barbecues.

Polka Theatre
This Wimbledon theatre is exclusively aimed at children and families, offering the younger generation a chance to get interested and involved in drama and theatre. The venue has developed a fantastic reputation over the years, and is now home to a cafe, playground and garden. Polka frequently exhibits child-friendly plays, shows and workshops.
