Beauty Trends 2020

Discover the latest ways to lift, peel, freeze and scrub your way to a glowing new you with 2020’s most innovative beauty trends

1. Super Cool Slimming

CoolSculpting is hugely popular, and is set to be even more so in 2020. According to Louise Stewart at Wimbledon’s nakedhealth MEDISPA, “It is the world’s no 1 fat freezing treatment and is FDA approved. It is non-invasive and uses cold temperatures to freeze and destroy fat cells. The procedure is performed in as little as 35 minutes with minimal discomfort.” Many areas of the body can be targeted and there is zero downtime, though Louise advises to plan well head as the final results are visible three months post treatment.

“A hot trend for 2020 will be the combining of CoolSculpting with ProLon ‘the Fasting Mimicking Diet’, which will enhance results and overall wellbeing and health,” she says.

The Fasting Mimicking Diet is a type of intermittent fasting. The plan includes fiveday, pre-packaged meal kits meant to promote weight loss and provide the same benefits as more traditional fasting methods.

2. The Power Plump

Profhilo is the first BDDE-free (appealing to customers wary of synthetic chemicals in products) stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity, luminosity, lustre and quality. AnnMarie Kyprianou, from the Glasshouse Clinic salons, explains: “With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg /2ml) it is not only boosting and hydrating for the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue. Previously combination treatments and homecare would have to be used to deliver a similar and lesser result.”

3. Fat Dissolving (Yes, Really!)

Kybella (Belkyra in the UK) is administered via multiple injections, which dissolve the fat beneath the chin. Indications are that it compares favourably to surgical options such as liposuction or neck lifts as the risks are far lower. This treatment is not yet licensed in the UK but when it arrives, it will be big business. It is suitable for those with mild to moderate fatty deposits. Louise at nakedhealth advises to get on a waiting list now and only see a reputable cosmetic surgeon who will discuss all options with you and will provide a precision treatment.

4. Carbon Cleanse & Glow

The trend for immediate gratification is set to continue in 2020. For the face, Louise says the Carbon Laser Peel is a quick skin refresh for those seeking an instant glow. The skin is cleansed and a carbon layer is applied. A laser light is then passed over the entire face and destroys the carbon, taking dead cells and impurities with it. The benefits are immediate and following this exfoliation the skin feels softer, smoother and firmer. Always wear protective goggles and use a high SPF following the treatment.

5. Collagen Creator

The Growth Factor Facial claims to boost collagen production in multiple ways, combining microneedling surface skin renewal and lift and sculpt massage techniques. Best administered to the face, neck and décolletage, the treatment is designed to provide a more radiant, smoother complexion and has been clinically proven to stimulate new collagen production. Ann-Marie at Glasshouse explains: “There is no down time compared to traditional microneedling treatments, and it infuses the skin with highly concentrated anti-oxidants to stimulate healing, leaving the skin glowing after one treatment.” For optimal results, Ann-Marie advises booking three to five sessions and results can last up to a year.

6. Banish Bingo Wings

Although PDO threads have been used for tightening the skin of the face for many years, Mr Mark Ho-Asjoe, from the Karidis Clinic, believes that it’s their potential to be used effectively in other areas of the body that is set to be a trend in 2020. “With the body, skin tightening has been trickier if you don’t want to go down the route of the tummy tuck, thigh lift or arm lift,” he says. “PDO body threads offer another option, especially to target the dreaded bingo wings.”
