5k Training Guide: Week 8

Final Week:

Well done, you have made it through all of the training for the past 2 months. This week is a much easier week to ensure your are rested and ready to go for the race. There are only two sessions this week and they are both designed to not be very difficult and get your legs moving.

Session 1

20 minutes – 1 minute walking, 1 minute running at 80% intensity. Repeat 10 times.

Session 2

To be done 2-3 days before the race. 20 minutes- steady pace run. Do not push yourself too hard. It should be around 60%.

Make sure you are well rested before the race and enjoy it. Do not put pressure on yourself. Once the race is over you can look to your next event, maybe a 10km, half marathon or even a marathon if you feel confident after this run.
