Christmas Visions

We love everything about Christmas (apart from trying to park in the Bentalls’ multi storey)!

Not only is it the social aspect of spending time with friends and family during this festive season, but it’s also a significant for us when it comes to celebrating our own birthdays and anniversaries. Basically, it’s a jam packed time of year and there’s plenty of things to do and people to see, which just makes everything more exciting. Although some may argue we should be thinking of others all year round, at least it gives us a chance to slow down, relax and appreciate each other as life does seem to pass us by at an extraordinarily rapid rate. We’ve already made a note of presents to buy for each other and wood is stocked up in preparation for the open fire. It will be extra special as it’ll be the first time we’ll be waking up on Christmas morning as a family of four.

We also have our annual Christmas traditions as well. We always select our tree from Shamley Green on the last day of November ready to be decorated on the first day of December. We have a Christmas meal with friends at The Canbury Arms and our home is an ‘open house’ for our dearest and nearest on Boxing Day to celebrate our little boy’s birthday. By January we’ll be exhausted and need another break!

The icing on the Christmas cake is that Kingston really embraces the season and the build up to it - there’s so much to get involved in. Last year we went to All Saints Family Christmas Carol Service which was jam-packed with families and candles and there was even an appearance from a real life donkey. We’re hoping this year they up the ante and add some sheep and camels too. And wherever you go there are lights and carol singing plus a chance to have a sneaky mulled wine at the Christmas market.

So now’s the time to get prepared and think ahead so you’re not caught out having a panic attack buying presents on Christmas Eve and get stuck in the multi storey!
