Carrot for Rudolph

I cannot express in words how excited we are as a family about Christmas...but I’ll do my best.

We just adore the festive season and how it has such a positive effect on people. We have been particularly organised this year, as we ordered presents for our children in early November and put all our appointments and dates in the diary in advance. We just wanted to make sure we weren’t stressed or chasing our tails, allowing us to thoroughly enjoy Christmas before it passes by in a flash. As happens every year, you blink and it’s January the second.

One aspect of this time of year which we particularly enjoy, is the ‘eat, drink and be merry’ part. If you hadn’t already realised, we are complete foodies and love a fantastic Christmas meal. Every year we have a Christmas party at The Canbury Arms with our friends. As part of this annual event, we have started the tradition of doing a Secret Santa for gifts. It’s great fun and gets us in the mood to the countdown to the big day, although Michael always moans about having the most difficult person to buy for.

On Christmas Day we’ll be celebrating as a family of four for the first time and staying at home together enjoying the tins of chocolates whilst relaxing by the open fire listening to Christmas carols. We’ve already ordered our turkey and will set our alarms early to make sure we get to M&S in time for the mad food rush.

On the day, Michael will be chef extraordinaire as he cooks for us all. Our youngest will be weaning so she’ll have her dinner pureed! Also, it’ll be the first year our son will sort of know what’s going on, so we’ll set out a mince pie for Santa and a carrot for Rudolph.
