Joint 10th birthday celebrations with Momentum (our chosen charity for 2014) are going apace.

This month we have both hooked up with the Rose theatre where the world premier theatrical performance of Jacqueline Wilson’s novel Hetty Feather opens. Jacqueline Wilson, a lifelong (almost) Kingston resident and world famous children’s author is a Momentum patron, and the charity is deeply precious to her as she tells me in an exclusive interview in this issue of T&L. It should come as no surprise that someone who has devoted her career to entertaining children should care about kids at a practical level too – and Jacqueline’s support for Momentum has been a major contribution to the success of this most important jewel in Kingston’s crown. The gala performance of Hetty Feather – in aid of Momentum on their 10th anniversary – is on Thursday 10 April – and you get a glass of bubbly to toast the charity in the ticket price.

This month we are going on a taste adventure as we launch our very own Time & Leisure Food & Drink Awards for 2014. If you feel strongly that a local restaurant deserves a commendation, you can make a difference by casting your vote. It’s our way of helping the local food trade – food and drink being the lifeblood of our area. Voting is really easy – you just go on line at www.timeandleisure.co.uk/foodawards and make your mark in the chosen category.

Remember amongst the excitement of all the choc at Easter, to check out your food astrology with Mystic Mag – being a foodie, she’s a bit tongue in cheek, any herrings are distinctly red and it is April Fool too.

Whatever is in your stars, enjoy spring and celebrate being in Kingston - now that April’s here.
