Action Men

Former Liverpool Manager Bill Shankly famously said: ‘Some people think that football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it’s much more serious than that.’

And when England joins the World Cup in June, we shall see exactly what Bill means. Just so you know, I have drawn Brazil in the T&L Office Sweepstake. This will not affect my patriotic loyalty...

Football isn’t a male preserve, but with Father’s Day and Men’s Health Week also taking place in June, this issue seemed a good one to devote to today’s man - at home, in the dressing room, at work and at play. We’ve talked to local sports photographer Duncan Grove and to Tudor Morris who is swimming the Channel for Momentum; we have asked Nicky Hambleton Jones, tv’s top style guru, to help us out with stylish accessories for guys (it’s OK the Man Bag is fine) and we have designed the perfect Man Cave for you and yours. Men’s Health Week warns us that the British male still manages to keep a stiff upper lip when it comes to physical (and mental) welfare. We thought those days were gone: man up men, go ask for help! We give some sources in our Wellbeing section. Oh yes, cars! We’ve got a whole load of great ideas for you to go and drool at some beauties - and even test drive them yourself.

Also in this issue, we have a lovely feature by Simon Wicks on FusionARTS in Kingston. Like us, like Momentum - our chosen charity for 2014 - Fusion is also celebrating their 10th birthday this year. A great year for decaders. And on the subject of ten, if you visit Al Forno in New Malden this month, you will find a special 10th birthday taste from us - two glasses of Prosecco for a tenner. Wish us all a very Happy Birthday when you sip.
