Jolly July

IYAF is finally upon us and this year’s offering from the International Youth Arts Festival is even more gobsmackingly brilliant than ever before.

I have selected - with Director Aniela Zaba’s help - some highlights, but even a brisk look at the programme will show you how difficult the choosing was. Buy a festival pass to see as much - and as many - things as you can. We are blessed to have IYAF in Kingston - and to witness the talents of so many young people from across the world.

Summer rocks. It is a time for the young, the very young and the young at heart to be out and about - whether exploring nature in our wild spaces, energetically climbing, swimming, cycling or running around, enjoying art installations in the open spaces of the town or peacefully sitting in the sun. We’ve got some super ideas for you and the family in this issue in our Summer Fun section this month.

We’ve also got lots of ideas for sun-kissed beauty and key pieces to wear on the beach from local stockists as well as sunglasses advice from fashion guru Nicky Hambleton Jones.

Inside, it always intrigues me how our living space keeps changing. Within our four walls we are busy knocking things down, extending, building, decorating and changing. Gone is the dining room (bash, those walls came tumbling down) and instead we have open spaces to dine, entertain, play, work and socialise. But then someone felt the draft - and the snug started to make a comeback. Up go those walls again. See our Family Living Space ideas in these pages.

We hope you enjoy all the fun of the start of summer this lovely July and see you in August for more IYAF and more practical Homes & Gardens advice.
