I asked Steve of FishClub restaurant at 189 St John’s Hill, 10 interview questions, ahead of the 9th annual St John’s Hill Festival which takes place on Sunday 13th September.

St.John’s Hill FestivalWhat is the St John’s Hill Festival?

The St John’s Hill Festival is a classic village fete mixed with all the fun of a festival, taking place in the heart of Battersea.

What is its purpose?

To bring fun and smiles to all of the local residents of St John’s Hill and raise money for a local cause in the process.

What is the involvement of FishClub in the Festival?

FishClub has always played an integral part in creating fun at the Festival with the famous Great Golden Goldfish Gala making as much fun as we can.

The Great Golden Goldfish Gala. Explain.

The only place in the world where you will see goldfish racing and the most fun you can have for £1.50. No goldfish are harmed in the making of this fun!

What has been your standout moment at the Festival?

11am on the first morning of the first Festival was amazing, seeing the whole thing come together, with all of the stalls and people, I couldn’t believe we’d pulled it off! It still amazes me every year.

St.John’s Hill FestivalWhat kind of people visit the Festival?

All kinds of happy people.

What is your favourite part of the day?

Seeing all the fellow traders coming together, and when the sun comes out (it shines on the Festival every year)!

What gets the party started at St.John’s Hill?

Champagne & oysters at FishClub of course!

Your best fish joke.

Oh, for Cod’s sake.

Do you have anything to add?

I would recommend everyone gets down to St John’s Hill for the 9th annual Festival for the best day of the year!
