Surrey’s travelling TV star Laura Hamilton is swapping her Place in the Sun for bedtime stories from Surrey tonight in aid of Action for Children.

The Purley-based presenter of Channel 4’s popular property programme ‘A Place in the Sun’ is joining a whole host of other famous faces for the celebrity charity fundraiser, including ‘Strictly Come Dancing’s popular pro dancer Giovanni Pernice, mind-boggling magician Dynamo, ‘W1A’, ‘Paddington 2’ and ‘Spaced’ actress Jess Hynes, former newsreader, original ‘Strictly’ host  Angela Rippon, and Surrey’s own ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ star Shane Ritchie.

Laura and her fellow philanthropic celebs are calling on families to enjoy an evening of star-studded entertainment, hosted by TOWIE’s Lydia Bright and singer Jake Quickenden, and to ‘Boycott Your Bed’ tonight, Friday 9th July, to raise money for some of the country’s most vulnerable children.

In celebration of its 152nd birthday today, leading charity Action for Children is again injecting the fun into fundraising, raising awareness of resources available to some of society’s most at-risk kids.

With the support of a few of our fave faces, Boycott Your Bed kicks off this evening Friday 9th July 2021 at 6pm.

From mystifying spells from the one-and-only magician Dynamo working his magic, and appearances from Action for Children’s Ambassadors Jess Hynes and Angela Rippon, to ‘Strictly’’s Giovanni Pernice and DJ Charlotte de Carle’s dance masterclasses, The Boycott Your Bed fundraiser event will see a star-studded line-up, ensuring a jam-packed night of virtual entertainment.

Laura tells me she can’t wait to take part in the action. “I have supported Action for Children for over 10 years and I loved the idea of this campaign,” she says. “I have been incredibly fortunate throughout my life to sleep in some lovely AND unusual places.  I have slept on a beach in Sri Lanka, with Bedouin Monks in the Sahara Dessert, in a treehouse on a mat in the jungle in Thailand and so on…  My adventures have been incredible.  I know that so many other people haven’t been as fortunate – especially over the last 18 months with COVID, hence I really wanted to support this campaign!”

Participants are being asked to sleep in the most unusual place possible, grab the pillows, lie back and enjoy a magical evening of virtual entertainment with family and friends, fundraising for emergency food packages and beds for some of the children hit hardest by the pandemic.

Where will you sleep to challenge yourself? Will you camp out under the stars or under the stairs? Bunk down in the bathroom or the back garden? Wherever you choose to lay your head, you’ll be helping vulnerable children and families in desperate need.

Settle down in an atypical place for a night of  star-studded fun. Whether you’re under the stars in the garden, or bunked down in the bathroom, you’re invited to spend the night in the most unusual place you can think of while enjoying an evening of virtual entertainment, including stories, games, challenges, music and much, much more – sure to be a night your family and friends will never forget!

TV personalities Lydia Bright and Jake Quickenden will be your hosts for the night, with magician Dynamo casting his magic spell live from the studio during an evening of entertainment and fun. Special guest appearances include actor and comedian Shane Richie, Strictly dancers Giovanni Pernice and Luba Mushtuk, Action for Children ambassador Angela Rippon and DJ Charlotte de Carle.

Family-friendly entertainment kicks off at 6pm, when you can learn how to dance like the stars with ‘Strictly’’s Giovanni Pernice and Luba Mushtuk, followed by Jessica Hynes’ ‘Horrible Histories’ Foul Facts Quiz – prepare to be disgusted! Get your adrenaline pumping with Jake Quickenden’s Boycott your Bed games, before your kids boycott their beds and snuggle down with soothing bedtime stories from Laura Hamilton Angela Rippon.

“I can’t wait be live in the studio tonight, entertaining everyone there as well as everyone at home who are ditching their duvets, putting away their pillows and bunking down in the most unusual place they can think of in their homes or gardens to raise money for this great charity,” says Dynamo. “This past year or so has been so hard on everyone, but for the vulnerable families that Action for Children supports it has been incredibly tough. Their key workers have been going above and beyond to support these families – whether it’s by delivering essentials to their doors, giving parenting advice online, or caring for children who can’t be in their own homes, the work they’ve done during these tough times is truly magical.”

Alongside Dynamo’s unmissable spellbinding magic, test your trivia knowledge in a special BYB quiz with comedian Shane Richie and enjoy songs from the shows performed by West End stars, before DJ Charlotte de Carle sees the night out and grown-ups then boycott their beds.

“As a mum myself, I’m absolutely thrilled to be part of Action for Children’s Boycott Your Bed,” says co-host, Lydia Bright. “It’s going to be such a fun evening of entertainment for the whole family and, most importantly, will raise money to help vulnerable children who are in desperate need.”

Simply sign up and lie back and enjoy a magical evening of fun, family-friendly entertainment and bring hope to vulnerable UK children hit hardest by the pandemic.

How will YOU boycott YOUR bed? Wherever you sleep, rest assured that the money you raise or donate can help make dreams of a safe and happy childhood come true!
