The lowdown on Dermaplaning facials and Gift ideas

A new facial treatment aims to bring back the glow – and remove fine facial fuzz. We ask the experts at Be Beautiful how it works

What is Dermaplaning?

It’s a skin resurfacing treatment that removes the outer layer of the skin’s epidermis, and rids the skin of dead skin cells and unwanted fine vellus hair.

Dermaplaning uses a scalpel to exfoliate the skin. The treatment is popular in the modelling and film industries because it emphasises facial structure and helps makeup to glide on.

What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?

Results are immediate and can reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars.

Is Dermaplaning suitable for everyone? Are there any risks?

Dermaplaning has very few risks and is suitable for nearly all skin types. A consultation or patch test is usually performed before treatment for those with sensitive skin.

What should clients look for when choosing a salon for their Dermaplaning treatment?

Look for a salon with a good reputation, or one that has been recommended to you by
a friend. Make sure that the salon is insured, and that the therapists are fully trained and hold the necessary qualifications, certificates and licences.

How long does a treatment last? How often should clients have the treatment?

The results of this treatment are instant. We would recommend that clients have the treatment every four-six weeks, although if the treatment is targeting a specific skin problem, it can be done more frequently.

Why should clients choose Dermaplaning instead of other facial treatments?

This method of exfoliation is great for clients who have sensitive skin or allergies that prevent them from using microdermabrasion and chemical peels. It’s also a great option for hair removal. The treatment lies between microdermabrasion and chemical peels in terms of the intensity of exfoliation – chemical peels being the most intense. Dermaplaning also helps peels and masks absorb into the skin.

The treatment is bespoke to each client. To find out more about Dermaplaning, contact Emma at Be Beautiful at info@bebeautiful.co.uk
