Five Places for Date Night in Kingston

Romantic restaurants in Kingston

Discover some of the top romantic spots to share a bite to eat in and around the area

1. No 97

We had one of our best meals of 2019 at Surbiton’s No 97. The inventive menu experiments with textures and flavours and it all looks and tastes incredible. Pork belly with crispy egg makes a perfect starter, while the barbary duck breast we tried was divine. The restaurant is lively, with a mix of couples and friends, perfect for that informal date night. Don’t miss the ownmade gin.

2. The Dysart

Welcoming you with a courtyard of fairylights, The Dysart is a romantic place indeed. The arts and crafts building is also a thing of beauty with its leaded windows, and inside the pared back and elegant interior is warmed by candlelight. The menu features locally and ethically sourced ingredients, with dishes such as partridge, kale, cobnuts, and bread sauce. Book early – it is justly popular, even more so since receiving its Michelin-star.

3. A Cena

Lucky are those that can call this neighbourhood Italian their local. This place is just so good. It is stylish and feels special enough for an occasion and yet the atmosphere is relaxed. There is a cracking wine list, and oh wow, the food….the menu is short but you will still be hard pressed to decide. Expect the likes of spicy tiger prawns with spaghetti, or salt marsh lamb with salsa verde. Whatever you choose, don’t miss the incredible tempura courgette flowers with goats cheese.

4. 144 Richmond Hill

We love this romantic stretch of Richmond, up on the hill with the meandering Thames below. 144 is a great spot for brunch, when you can enjoy strolls either in the park or along the river to work up an appetite. But it is also a fine place for date night with its gorgeous chic bar. Start the evening with a finely-crafted cocktail then head into the restaurant for Modern British food, with a wide selection to suit all.

5. Roz Ana

With its regional specialities each month, alongside carefully considered regulars, Roz Ana showcases the many styles of Indian cuisine with aplomb. The coconut soft shell crab should be on your radar – it is incredible. And we adore the Mooplah beef curry. It is also the perfect place for veggies with a wide selection of dishes on offer. There’s a great bar area, and the interiors stylish and lit by candles.
