What set you on the path of your chosen career?
I founded Kids en Cuisine after being a mum. I am passionate about healthy and tasty food and children. So I decided to quit ‘the office life’ as a human resource manager and devote my time to my passion. It can be tough to find that balance between being a single mum and running a business, but is the best decision I have ever made and a dream come true running a business which is getting bigger every year. I now have various teachers / chefs working for Kids en Cuisine so it is a huge challenge.
What makes your cookery classes different?
With Kids en Cuisine, I believe in the importance of learning the benefits of a healthy balanced diet from a very early age. That’s why I offer cooking classes focused on fruits and vegetables, natural and organic ingredients, aromatic herbs and spices. Depending on the ages of the children, we make the classes educational and fun by listening to music, dancing, joking and finding tips to help them to peel, cut and gain confidence in the kitchen.
What can parents and children expect from your classes?
The classes allow your children to try out various cooking gadgets and help them to develop their fine motor skills. They will try new flavors, textures, and learn through entertainment. For the small chefs (2-5 years old), the recipes are explained step by step by talking slowly.
I decided to organise cooking sessions in parents’ houses so sessions are relaxed. We provide everything for the cooking classes, from the ingredients to the utensils to the goody bags and aprons. Most importantly, we provide the fun. After four years of running the business, I have got to the stage where I am developing partnerships with stores as Whole Food Market, Planet Organic and As nature intended. I have started having quite a lot of afternoon cookery clubs in schools and nurseries all around London which help our mini chefs to discover healthy food and how to cook savory dishes and healthy baking. I also try to bring a piece of my country in my recipes and bring that French touch.
