Burhill Golf Club
Boasting a mansion that was once the home to the Duchess of Wellington near Walton in Surrey, Burhill Golf Club’s origins date back to 1907 when the course was opened and attracted a string of royals, dukes and earls. Now, the course is a mixture of parkland and heathland, maintaining its original bunkering to match its excellently tended to greens and fairways.
Farleigh Golf Club
Set in stunning countryside in the North Surrey Downs, Farleigh has 27 Championship standard holes across 350 acres. It is welcoming and inclusive and a great place for those new to the sport. Read our review.
Wimbledon Park Golf Club
A premium parkland course that overlooks Wimbledon Park Lake and the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon Park Golf Club is challenging thanks to its narrow fairways and smaller greens. At 5400 yards and a par of 66 it’s also relatively short, with visitors and societies welcome.
Royal Wimbledon Golf Club (pictured top)
Neatly placed adjacent to Wimbledon Common, Royal Wimbledon Golf Club dates all the way back to 1865, making it the third oldest golf club in England. While proud of such heritage, the club is always making improvements on its exquisitely well-kept course, which measures 6,400 yards in length and has a par of 71. With limited visitor green fees, there are few better places for a round.
London Scottish Golf Club
As one of two clubs sharing the 18 holes found on Wimbledon Common, London Scottish Golf Club also boasts centuries-old tradition, albeit at the expense of privacy as members of the public can also be found roaming the common and the course. Total yardage stands at 5,400 with a scratch score clocking 71.
Wimbledon Common Golf Club
Associated with London Scottish, Wimbledon Common Golf Club is the other club to share the eponymous course, with membership available for both.
Coombe Wood Golf Club
A classically laid out yet impeccably maintained parkland course, Coombe Wood’s spaciousness favours those with long drives, yet is welcoming to golfers of all standards. One of the longer courses in the local area, a round totals 7,500 yards.
Coombe Hill Golf Club
A formidable course situated in amongst hills, Coombe Hill particularly caters for more experienced players, yet welcomes societies and guests. Yardage stands at 6,200 and par at 71 strokes.
Richmond Park Golf Club
Two 18-hole courses make up this popular pay-and-play venue, with the shorter Prince’s Course offering picturesque verdant views of Richmond Park and the more demanding, water hazard-heavy Duke’s Course appealing to those looking for a challenge.
Roehampton Golf Club
An integral part of a large sporting complex comprised of a gym, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, the course at Roehampton is a conventional parkland course with exceptionally well presented greens. Welcoming societies, it’s 6,000 yards in length and has a par of 71.
Pyrford Golf Club
Ensconced in woodland of North Surrey, the course at Pyrford Golf Club is laid out in two loops for the front and back nine. Total yardage measures approximately 6,200, yet the challenge posed is more by the club’s abundance of water, with players usually having to use every club in their bag.
Silvermere Golf & Leisure
Named after its body of water that takes on a superficial shimmer, Silvermere Golf Club is a picturesque pocket of Cobham that combines tricky, water hazard-heavy par 3s with well-groomed par 4s. At 6,400 yards it stands at medium length
