Wellness Weekend at Morden Hall Park

Get a spring in your step and kick-start your year with a dose of mindfullness at Morden Hall Park’s Wellness Weekend. Enjoy watercolour classes, woodland craft workshops, or a wholesome morning stroll where you can discover the park alongside the expert rangers. The Winter’s Tale at Hampton Hill Theatre

Get cultured and see a performance of The Winter’s Tale. The famous Shakespearean drama telling of love and loss comes to the auditorium at Hampton Hill Theatre. Often dubbed as the ‘problem play’, The Winter’s Tale moves from an intense psychological drama to a romantic comedy, before arriving at a theatrical happy ending. Perfect for a cold, winter’s night. 26 January – 1 February, tickets and times vary.

Stephen K Amos, Bouquets and Brickbats at Epsom Playhouse 

Head down to see Stephen K Amos on 17 January. The acclaimed comedian hits the road and comes to Epsom Playhouse with his tour that seeks to help you forget about the state of the world and just have a good laugh. Tickets start from £17.50.

KEEP. at Battersea Arts Centre

The much-anticipated show by Daniel Kitson comes to the beautiful Grand Hall at the Battersea Arts Centre. The show tells stories from Daniel’s past, present and future and is essentially a running commentary of the thoughts in the actor’s head. The drama of the arts space which has been recently renovated adds to the performance. Performances kick off from 8 January and tickets can be found from £12.

Moscow City Ballet presents Swan Lake at Richmond Theatre

The exceptionally talented dancers from the Moscow City Ballet will be gracing Richmond Theatre’s stage with their production of Swan Lake, presented in classic Russian style and with the backing of a full orchestra. The exquisite choreography, score from Tchaikovsky and the solo performances will win over audience members as they are transported to a magical land where a prince is doomed in love. 30 & 31 January.

Merton Live 

Wimbledon Guild will be bringing the best of the community under one roof at New Wimbledon Theatre this month at Merton Live. Expect entertainment from musicians, dance and drama in this all-out traditional variety, plus an appearance from Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Wayne Woodward. Tickets are being sold from £4.50 and the day kicks off at 10am. 26 January.

Gits and Shiggles Comedy

A local comedy night bringing you the best in emerging and established stand-up acts. The likes of Jack Whitehall, Josh Widdicombe and more have performed on the legendary Half Moon stage, so head along to see the stars of the future. The first run of the month includes noted comedian Shappi Khorsandi, and the last comedy club of the month will feature acts from Ed Gamble, Spencer Jones, Dane Baptiste, Bec Hill and Adam Riches. Tickets start at £8 with comedy kicking off at 8pm.

Rain Man at New Victoria Theatre, Woking

A play based on the Oscar winning film starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, this version tells of a self-centred salesman who discovers he has a long-lost older brother. The drama unfolds as Charlie Babbitt discovers his brother has inherited the family’s fortune and decides to go all out to get his half of the money. Grab your ticket now with prices starting at £13 and catch the play between 21 and 26 January.

Chel-ski lodges at Bluebird

The beautiful venue in the heart of the King’s Road will transform into a winter wonderland. The Bluebird has installed three heated alpine lodges so you can enjoy a cocktail in a magical and warming setting. There is also an alpine menu featuring Gruyere and montgommery cheddar fondues, seasonal cocktails and boozy hot chocolates to make the most of.

Carlshalton Wedding Fair

If 2019 is going to be all about planning the big day, the Carlshalton Wedding Fair on Sunday 27 January is the place to be. You’ll find everything you need to plan your wedding, from dresses to flowers to entertainment and transport. Suppliers at the fair will be local and will be able to help inspire couples for their big day. You can also check out Oaks Golf Club which is licensed for civil partnerships. The event is free and takes place at The Oaks Golf Course from 11-3pm. Booking is essential.
