Here are our favourite May half-term events to keep the little ones entertained
Spring Spectacular at Bocketts Farm
This May half term, enjoy a jam-packed day out with friendly animals, a full programme of farm activities, plus animal handling, goat milking and tractor rides through the grounds of Bocketts Farm. There will be the chance for children to enjoy birds of prey demonstrations and there is a special craft corner with colouring, badge making and flag making.

May half term at Morden Hall Park
Head to the luscious grounds of Morden Hall Park this half term and you’ll be greeted with a swathe of family fun events sure to keep the kids entertained. Children can enjoy craft events where they can learn about the intricacies of glass mosaics and nature print cyanotype making. There will also be a special storytelling session with Olivia Armstrong who will be looking at the magical trees in the park and weaving magical myths and bringing the park to life with seasonal folktales.
May half term children’s trail at Winkworth Arboretum
Kids with time off school are invited to step off the beaten track and explore the great outdoors at Winkworth Arboretum. The May half term will challenge you and your mini-explorers to follow natures clues from around the grounds. The natural play area will also be available for kids to play, as well as the iconic lake house, and there is an exciting nwe Tree Adventure park that has just opened on the site, complete with a climbing wall, fireman’s pole, rope tunnel and ladders.
Black Beauty at The Rose
A stranded horse finds himself alone on a stormy night and in desperate need of help in finding his way home. The literary classic, Black Beauty, is retold for the Kingston stage this half term. Bring little ones along for a magical tale and a classic for all horse lovers. From his simple beginnings as a foal in a meadow through the ups and downs of his life including being a riding horse on a country estate and a cab horse on the busy streets of London, Black Beauty tells his own story.

May half term events at the Wetland Centre
Barnes Wetland Centre will be opening its doors this half term for children to discover animals living in the ponds, the chance to enjoy a mini-safari around the grounds and plenty of other activities. Kids can take part in pond dipping, wild play where they’ll make potions using natural ingredients in the wetlands for making plant magic, and reptile walks where kids will be lead off the beaten track to find out more about reptiles that call the centre home.
This May bank holiday is a key date for foodies from across the capital, who will be converging on Syon Park to seize the three day weekend at Foodies Festival with its street food village, workshops and talks from key chefs. This year’s menu has a stellar line-up of Masterchef champions as well as top notch culinary masterminds, who will be cooking up an array of their favourite dishes. There is also a kids zone and live music.

Pizza making at Bentalls
Get the little ones cooking up a storm this May half term at a selection of pizza-making classes at the Bentalls Centre. Children will be clearly instructed how to put their chefing abilities to the test while parents can enjoy a leisurely brunch served with hot beverages. Pizza Making Classes are each an hour long and children will be encouraged to get creative and decorate with toppings freely. Parents’ brunch includes a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival and unlimited hot beverages for the duration of the children’s pizza class.

Colour Kids Club
Join Colour Kids Club this May Half Term for some amazing arts and crafts. Artist, Evita Benjafield, will be leading workshops where kids can create their own art projects. This May, participants will be creating their very own mosaic mirror, colouring in window decorations and learning about Picasso while experimenting with watercolours and ink.
