Newland House School Admissions Perspective

Jane Tosetti the Admissions Manager at Newland House School talks to us about her role and developments at the school

Jane, tell us about the role of admissions.

Admissions provides a unique bridge between prospective parents and the school and it is our role to ensure that their very first interaction with the school is a positive, warm and straightforward experience. Not only does admissions need to be very knowledgeable about the school, but it is vitally important to be able to understand parents’ sometimes very specific circumstances and their immediate and long-term aspirations for their children.

What makes Newland House special?

Newland House has an energetic but caring character. It offers an original blend of tradition, innovation and of course opportunity but it is our authenticity which gives pupils a sense of self belief and helps them feel like they belong. This community atmosphere is very special and it is never more evident than when pupils welcome new children to the school.

What age groups do you cater for?

We are non-selective and admit girls and boys from either age 3 into the nursery or age 4 into Reception. Girls leave aged 11 and boys at 13. We also sometimes have occasional vacancies across other age groups (these may be subject to assessment). Being coeducational gives a more instinctive and natural learning environment and this makes us an attractive option for many local families.

Do you have any development plans for the school?

In 2016 we opened a stunning new Pre-Prep which has been cleverly designed to provide a beautiful and spacious learning environment. We further expanded our early years provision by opening our Nursery in 2017 which is already enormously popular. We have certainly been busy but in education there is no time to stand still and we are now investing in our sports partnership with NPL sports ground. Their facilities in Bushy Park provide a beautiful location to play sport.

How do parents arrange to visit the school?

There is so much to be gained from visiting the school as well as a chance to feel some of that specialness. Just call me on 020 8865 1305 or email admissions@newlandhouse.net. We have group tours every month and bespoke visits most days of the week during term time. Prospective parents are welcome to visit.
