No. 12: The Food Lover’s Local
Natasha Taylor of No. 12 in Kingswood tells us about the restaurant’s recipe for success, and its recent accolade at our Food & Culture Awards
How does it feel to be awarded Highly Commended for Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year?
It is an honour to have received the Highly Commended Award and we are delighted to be recognised amongst such a prestigious list of finalists. We are so grateful to our customers and local community for taking the time to vote. It is an amazing result for us.
What was the ethos and vision behind No.12?
At No.12 we aim to offer our customers a fine dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. We wanted to bring the kind of stylish, modern British dishes and sophisticated surroundings you might find in a London restaurant to the suburbs. We strive to offer exceptional food at affordable prices.
Is there a signature dish at No.12?
Undoubtedly, our signature dish is our Cote du Boeuf, not only does it look spectacular but the quality of the meat speaks for itself. It is a simple but stunning dish! Our Sunday roast sharing platters remain a firm favourite with all our customers and it makes us a popular weekend destination for families. We constantly endeavour to bring exciting new dishes to our menu and more recently introduced a wider choice of vegan and vegetarian dishes so that we can cater for all our customers’ preferences.
What sets you apart from other restaurants?
We pride ourselves on being a food lover’s restaurant using the very best ingredients but without being pretentious. Our method is simple: the highest quality, fresh ingredients expertly cooked.
What makes you a part of the community?
Being based in Kingswood we are lucky enough to be part of a close, thriving community. As an independent family-run restaurant we try to offer a highly personalised service, which we feel is key to our success. We are always happy to welcome old and new customers through the door and we pride ourselves on building up close relationships with all our local customers. We encourage our staff to be professional but always friendly, we want everyone who walks through our door to receive a warm welcome.
What plans do you have for the future?
One of our most exciting plans is launching No.12@Home, which is our new takeout service. We feel we can offer a different kind of takeaway service where you can enjoy fine dining in the comfort of your own home. We want our local community to have a wider variety of choice in takeaways and by offering dishes from our a la carte menu as well as weekly “Specials” we feel we can meet that requirement.
We are also looking forward to the festive period and the many special events we will be hosting to help our customers enjoy the Christmas season. All during December
we host our Festive Tribute Nights, which are always so popular and we can’t wait to welcome customers to these great evenings to enjoy our amazing food and talented tribute acts.
