Quality over Quantity?
Quality over Quantity?
The importance of making well-considered decisions with a financial planning expert.
Do you choose quality over quantity in life? Sometimes we’re willing to sacrifice quality in our daily lives, for example if there is a special offer on a particular product, or if we’re in a hurry and need to grab some food quickly. However, when it comes to money and investments, quality of advice matters.
When we chat with our clients about retirement and the style and standard of living that they wish to have during the (hopefully) many years beyond work, often they think about the minimum they need to live on in retirement, rather than what they actually want to have. Personally I’ll take quality over quantity any day – but what if you can have both?
Clients come me and ask me to look at their pensions to see if they’re enough, however as a financial planner I always aim to get a clear picture of expectations and desires before looking at their pensions in depth. For me it’s always about the possibilities and planning, the “what’s the most I can achieve?” rather than “what’s the minimum I can settle for?”
“Quality over Quantity” is a crucial principle in financial planning, emphasizing the importance of making well-considered, robust decisions over simply accumulating a large number of investments or savings.
A quality financial planner should be able to provide valuable guidance, support you to achieve your financial goals and take the worry out of investing. Complex financial concepts should be explained clearly, in a collaborative and personalised manner.
As Financial Planner at Evans Hart (incorporating Holland Hahn & Wills) we believe passionately about planning first, investing second. Advisers are interested in what makes people tick, what interests you, what would you do more of if you had the time, what would you regret not having done if you knew your time was short? A great financial planner knows how to ask the right questions, to get you thinking about your ‘quality’ of life. Ralph Waldo Emerson quoted “life is a journey, not a destination”.
