10 Tips for a Perfect Wedding
We are set for a wedding boom with many couples opting for 2020 as their notable year of significance. We ask Olivia Malcolm Berry, at The Hurlingham Club for her top tips for a perfect wedding celebration.
1
Venue
Obviously it has to be The Hurlingham Club! A London wedding benefits from plentiful accommodation nearby to suit all budgets, easy transport links and plenty of inspiration to make it a weekend of celebration. Bordering the Thames in Fulham and set in 42 acres of magnificent grounds, The Hurlingham Club is a green oasis of tradition and international renown. Entering the grounds immediately creates a feeling of occasion and the landscaped gardens provide a stunning backdrop for the perfect photo album. Floral beds, fountains and gorgeous lawns provide a plethora of options and our resident peacocks often pop by to greet guests too. Our space is flexible, hosting smaller groups to in excess of 350 people and includes our beautiful Palm Court – perfect for a memorable ceremony.
2
Flower Chandeliers
A floral chandelier over the ceremony or covering your guests during dinner is a wonderful alternative to a floral arch or tall pedestal arrangements. Create a romantic tree-lined aisle or flower wall for a photo booth to add even more wow factor.
3
Photo Booth Guest Book
Have a bespoke photo booth backdrop where you can take polaroids for guests to take away as momentos or to jazz up your guess book. A balloon wall can also double up as your photo booth backdrop continuing your colour scheme throughout the evening!

Food Trucks
Pizza bars….cheese vans…..hello food trucks!! A great way to provide an evening snack to your guests and a fun way to incorporate your favourite foods!
5
Decadent Wedding Cake
A wedding is not complete without a delicious wedding cake. Go with tradition or with layers you can mix it up to suit your tastes. Styles and flavours change every season so you will always find one to go with your wedding look.
6
The Three Day Wedding
Why have just a day when you could have a three day wedding! A great way for guests to meet before the wedding for pre wedding celebrations and introductions, and then after the wedding for Sunday lunch before everyone heads home. This is a lovely way to make the most of your wedding, especially for your overseas guests or those travelling to the capital from around the UK.
7
Dreamy Desserts
Everyone loves a sweet station! Why not make more of an impact with a donut wall, brownie bar, cookie corner, chocolate strawberry station or even a meringue tower!
8
The Friday Wedding
Not only can a Friday wedding be more cost effective with your venue and suppliers, you can have longer set up time and have more options when it comes to selecting a date. It also gives you the weekend to continue the party before jetting off on honeymoon if you wish.
9
Social Media
Think about how you would like your wedding to appear on social media as undoubtedly it will at some point unless you communicate it clearly to guests. Maybe you would prefer to have a complete blackout, and not have everyone’s camera go up during the ceremony. It’s not always a great look having an audience of photographers in the background of your official photos. Perhaps you are happy for it to be broadcast far and wide – with a photo booth linked to social media. Either way, make sure you let people know your wishes to avoid any upset.
10
An Epic DJ
Nothing creates an atmosphere like a DJ that can spin the right music to build your wedding late into the evening. Before the wedding ask closest friends and family to send over any memorable tracks they have enjoyed with you over the years – this will help the DJ to create some moments for your social groups to reminisce and are bound to fill the dance floor.
