SUPPORTING, INSPIRING & CONNECTING BUSINESSES

Kingston Chamber’s 9th Business Expo continues to support local businesses online. The past year has been tough for businesses of all sizes, while a few may have thrived, many have had to close their doors or dramatically pivot to adapt to new markets.

Kingston Chamber of Commerce has been around since 1905 representing and supporting the local business community and so while the recent pandemic has certainly changed how it operates, their support, influence and ability to connect local businesses has never been more important.

One of the Chamber’s flagship events is the Kingston Business Expo, now in its 9th year. Like most recent events, it was delivered online for the first time in 2020 which proved to be a huge hit. The continuing success of the Expo is a testament to the spirit of our local business community, building success through ambition, support and collaboration.

Amid exceptional uncertainty, the global economy is projected to grow 5.5 per cent in 2021, with an extra 85,000 new businesses expected to be created this year, as Covid redundancies trigger people into setting up on their own.

The event will take place online again on 28th April 2021, perfectly timed to support these businesses as we move out of the pandemic period. The event will provide a free platform for all businesses looking to build their connections, knowledge and promote their business through networking, seminars and roundtable discussions.

Highlights of the programme include

Time & Leisure’s very own Lucy Kane will be presenting on how to increase conversions on your website.

David Harkin, CEO, of the ideas company 8billionideas and a speaker at the most recent TedX in Kingston. An entrepreneur who passionately believes in the power of ideas and how they can help re-shape the workplace.

The roundtable discussions will look at areas in Kingston that will play a significant role in our local business recovery. The Local Vision, Skills and Employability, Start-Up roundtables and Kingston University’s Business Innovation Network will share knowledge and stimulate ideas to positively impact your business growth and inspire change in the local economy.

Connecting businesses is the key to growth and so the day will incorporate plenty of networking opportunities including the ever-popular speed networking sessions.

The Expo is supported by headline sponsors Kingston Council and Kingston University who recognise the importance of events such as this to stimulate conversations, connect and grow our local business community. Their support, alongside all the events sponsors, enables Kingston Chamber to deliver the event on a free to attend basis, ensuring it reaches and supports businesses and entrepreneurs at all stages of development.
