A good education should last a lifetime. From the moment you walk through the doors at Surbiton High School, you can feel the energy, excitement and passion for learning, together with a willingness to embrace new challenges.

Surbiton High Boys’ Preparatory School

Surbiton High Boys’ Preparatory School is a successful independent School for boys aged from 4 to 11. Our pupils achieve their potential through academic rigour and exceptional pastoral support.

Our boys live the school motto; ‘May love always lead us’. They are sensitive, thoughtful and sociable whilst thriving in all areas of the tailored curriculum. The pupils enjoy a diverse range of cultural and sporting experience in a community that celebrates success in many arenas. We provide an outstanding, rounded education for each of our pupils and encourage them to embrace all the opportunities on offer.

The journey to the boys’ chosen senior schools is an opportunity for us to carve a fruitful foundation for the challenges of adulthood. Surbiton High Boys’ Prep helps our pupils to explore who they are and what they are striving for. Our boys leave us as confident, happy individuals who are ready to face the challenges of the next step in their journey. Boys usually go on to a range of  24 selective independent day and grammar schools, many with scholarships in hand.

Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School

Surbiton High Girls’ Preparatory School is a happy, warm and loving place where our pupils are very much at the heart of everything we do. As soon as you are welcomed through the doors, you will see the vibrant artwork, hear the buzz of learning, and see smiling faces in every corner.

We are proud of the fact that every member of our community is continuously learning. This means that we are able to combine traditional pedagogy with innovative methods within the curriculum. Through the delivery of a broad and enriching programme, girls are encouraged to make links with their learning and study concepts in great depth, thus allowing them to show mastery of ideas.

Through a rigorous assessment process, we are able to track our pupils individually, ensuring that we provide a tailored approach where needed. It is our aim that every girl reaches and grows her potential: this approach ensures that we are successful in doing so.

Surbiton High Sixth Form

We are proud to offer a Sixth Form curriculum which has been developed to allow the individual to achieve at a high level, whilst growing in academic curiosity. Central to this is our aim to make all lessons across all subjects outstanding. Students also have the opportunity to take a range of enriching activities outside the taught curriculum, for example, the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and Young Enterprise.

Each year, the vast majority of our students, approximately 90%, move on to study at top ten or Russell Group universities. We also have outstanding success with students applying for other higher education or training routes, such as Art School and apprenticeships. Students interested in applying for Oxbridge or Medical, Dental or Vet Schools have separate programmes tailored to their needs to give them every change of success in these competitive areas. In recent years, we have had a growing number of students successfully applying for undergraduate study abroad, including the USA, Canada, Poland, Italy, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong.

We believe students who are happy and challenged will discover that they are capable of much more than they may have ever believed possible.
