White Spider Climbing

Channel your adventurous side and scale new heights at one of the UK’s largest climbing centres. White Spider Climbing located in Surbiton has over 360 climbing routes and 200 boulder problems, including a big cave and dedicated training area. If you’re new to climbing the team are on hand to guide you – and there are a variety of classes for all levels, including kids as young as five, who will also love the onsite kids’ castle. An exhilarating activity for the whole family whatever the weather.

Hampton Court

Hampton Court is worth a visit at any time of year with a raft of family-friendly activities including the maze and the Magic Garden. But if you didn’t get a chance to do some festive ice skating then you still have a chance to do it in an iconic location in front of one of the UK’s most historic royal palaces (until 5 January). On the Sunday 12 January and 2 February there will also be special interactive Storytime Adventures where well-known children’s books will be linked to Hampton Court’s magnificent history.

Glow at RHS Wisley

Grab a breath of fresh air and wander amongst the stunning gardens at RHS Wisley. For those who missed out on seeing their magical light illuminations, there is still time. While you can marvel at Wisley’s iconic trees and features shining bright, there are also giant botanical light installations inspired by the four seasons. Make your way through the trail and be wowed by spring daffodils along Jellicoe Canal and snowdrops on Seven Acres. Runs until 5 January.

Oxygen Free Jumping

Bounce your way into the the New Year at Croydon’s Oxygen Free Jumping trampoline park. Great fun for the whole family, there are over 100 trampolines and 14 different zones to temp including a mega airbag and a trampoline dodgeball court. For younger children, the Little O’s section means parents and toddlers under five can jump around in a safe environment, while older kids and adults can free jump their way around the park for an hour’s session.

National Army Museum

Whatever your age, the National Army Museum in Chelsea has several interactive experiences for the whole family. Through their vast collections, the museum share stories of ordinary people with extraordinary responsibilities – and there is so much for kids to learn and explore. Younger children can take on the assault course and take part in an army drill. Meanwhile, visitors can dress up in camouflage and climb aboard a Churchill Mk VII to experience life as a tank crew in Normandy during the Second World War.
