Local Walks & Talks

The Walk & Talk Movement started in south west London in 2021, and has only grown since, with 500 walks having taken place across the areas, and more than 10,000 participants! It’s a fabulous way to get active while meeting up with friends and chatting with the community. Here are the places where you can get involved…

Wimbledon Common and Village

A beautiful local trail that follows through Wimbledon Common and Village, beginning at the War Memorial on the corner of Parkside and the Causeway Wimbledon Common. Colliers Wood

Every Saturday starting from 10:30am you can join the Colliers Wood Walk & Talk, starting at the Colliers Wood tube station and trailing up and down the Wandle. There are some lovely riverside trails around this area, full of green places and natural secrets. You’ll see some ducks nesting along the Wandle – and look out for the infamous heron!

King George’s Park

This lovely walk takes place around the gorgeous and historic King George’s Park every Saturday, beginning next to the West Hill and heading around the peaceful lake. This is a fabulous opportunity to explore this green space in the heart of Wandsworth. There’s lots of interesting history to discover while you meet with friends and connect with your local community.

Wimbledon Park

A Walk & Talk through the famous Wimbledon Park, beginning at the café next to the tennis courts. You can appreciate the breath-taking sights of the park and lake alongside a really friendly group of community walkers. The group often go for teas and coffees afterwards which affords you the opportunity to really make some good friends and develop a strong network.

Morden Hall Park

This stunning National Trust Park is a fabulous site for a Walk & Talk, with acres of gorgeous space. It’s rich in history and filled with many different meandering paths and points of interest. The walk begins by the picnic benches next to the Stable Yard and Snuff Mill, winding throughout the peaceful and picturesque park.

Pollards Hill

A local Walk & Talk in and around Pollards Hill, from outside the New Horizon Community Centre, next to Pollards Hill Library. This is a really friendly and welcoming group, and the team behind it worked hard to make the initiative blossom.

Tooting Common

You can head around the Common with this Walk & Talk, beginning outside the Tooting Bec Common Café, just off Bedford Hill. Much like the Wimbledon Common and Village Walk & Talk, they have recently celebrated their first birthday. Everyone is welcome, and they sometimes visit other local organisations like community gardens, art galleries, churches and the lido.

Canons House Mitcham

Beginning at the courtyard of the gorgeous and historic Canons House, this Walk & Talk explores the house’s 500+ year old dovecote and secret walled garden. You can learn all about the house’s history while meeting with other likeminded people who love discovering the secrets of the local area.
