Willow Tree Counselling: Counselling With Care

Lindsay Roadnight talks to us about her counselling practice

What does a counsellor do?
My job is to listen and support my clients, not to judge or give advice. Talking about your thoughts and feelings in a safe space is a good way to explore your issues.

Can counselling help me?
Speaking with a trained counsellor can help you gain a fresh perspective whatever you’re struggling with. You could be facing a specifi c issue, or perhaps experiencing a more general feeling of discontent or lack of satisfaction in your life. It could be something that’s currently happening or an issue from the past that’s causing concern.

Is counselling for everyone?
What can seem like a minor concern to someone may cause someone else great distress. You don’t need to be suffering from a serious mental health issue to benefit from counselling, it can help everyone.

How do you work with clients?
Everyone is unique and I tailor my approach to suit each individual. Some clients come to offload and vent, whereas others may want more quiet and reflection. During my sessions, my focus is completely on my client and ensuring I am supporting them in the best way possible.

What do your clients say about you?
I recently had some feedback from a client saying that coming to see me had been a ‘life changing experience’ for them. The most common thing I hear is how much clients benefit from talking to someone entirely unrelated to the rest of their life. It’s so rewarding to see my clients grow in confidence and self belief.

How do you want to grow your business?
Alongside working with private individuals, I’d like to build relationships with local employers, working with them to provide emotional support for their employees.

How can I find out more?
I take referrals from individuals, family and friends and employers. There is more information about my practice on my website or you can call or email me directly.
