Wimbledon is Open!
Wimbledon is Open!
“It’s welcome back, we’ve missed you” says Sally Warren from Love Wimbledon
‘Energy comes from people and places’ explained Sally, that’s why as Wimbledon Town Centre re-opens its doors to customers, shops have been delighted with the reaction. Many of the independent shops in Wimbledon, markets and big brands have regular customers, it’s very much ‘welcome back, we’ve missed you’.
“Our independent department store, Elys, is so easy to shop and see what you’re buying (who is bored of a computer screen?!), whether it’s a summer duvet cover or picnicware, seeing it for real stops you getting the wrong size and wrong colour! It’s great to see our ice cream parlours like G Like Gelato, our art shops, our cafés, our fashion and homewares back and welcoming customers.”
In a few days most of our pubs and eateries will be open, all with new social distancing, but not losing what they are there for—so everyone can go out have a good time whether on a date, with family or friends.
The town has never looked better, and while tennis may not be happening this year, we are still dressing it, keeping it clean as if it were. You will find hand sanitisers around Wimbledon, banners, baskets and the town Ranger will be keeping a constant eye on cleanliness.
Keep and eye out for the Love Wimbledon WE’RE OPEN posters – you’ll spot them all over town.
The market is once again open on The Piazza this Saturday and Sunday 11am to 6pm on The Piazza. There are delicious bakers, including Olivier’s Bakery and LuzoBrazil as well as street food, homewares and accessories and you can pre-order to collect at the market or buy on the day.
We’re celebrating everything there is to love about Wimbledon and the local businesses – we would like to say Welcome Back to all our shops and restaurants and #LoveLocal to everyone else, as Wimbledon is OPEN for you. Remember to support local businesses as they’ve had a tough time need you more than ever right now.
