5 Kitchen Trends For 2020

5 Kitchen Trends For 2020

Here’s what’s hot in the world of kitchen design

Statement Materials

Unusual materials are big news for the kitchen in 2020. Slate, marble, copper, brass – don’t shy away from them – use them in large doses for statement style.

Island Life

Kitchen islands and breakfast bars have become an essential kitchen feature. But it’s now all about the bigger the better, with longer, wider islands, L-shapes and dividing screens so that preparation clutter is hidden from diners. We’re also seeing a trend for two islands with one for dining and one for cooking.

Feature Lighting

Lighting is one of the easiest things to update so it is a great way to reference current trends – go for the natural aesthetic with bamboo or statement chandeliers with interesting texture.

Embrace Colour – or Not

Anything goes this year. Black and dark hued kitchens are still big news but we’re also seeking calm in our kitchen so soft greens, greys and even baby pink will help bring about a sense of tranquility. The twotone kitchen is also a key look for 2020, with the contrast of colours in cabinetry, worktops and walls.

Clever Storage

#pantryporn was a thing in 2019 and is set to continue. Not everyone can have a walk-in larder like Nigella so we’re opting for clever cupboards where we can organise all our clutter. We’re also coveting anything that can make better use of our counter tops, awkward corners and cupboards such as pull-up units.
