The Loving Earth Project: Climate Change & Creativity

Teaming up with Sustainable Merton, the organisation hopes to raise climate change awareness through creative projects and workshops

Sustainable Merton’s Our Loving Earth: Lockdown Legacy project has launched, encouraging creative residents keen to spread the word of the troubled climate situation to speak out through their art.

Aimed at supporting people with their wellbeing during these challenging times, the project, run by Sustainable Merton in collaboration with the Loving Earth Project, asks Merton residents of all abilities to create a textile panel that captures their feelings towards the environment, with a vision for a better, more sustainable future.

Each panel will be accompanied by the personal story behind it and there will be a local exhibition of the panels in late Spring 2021. Find out how to get involved here.

In addition to the textile panel initiative, the organisation has the following workshops through the month of February:

  • 15 Feb – Potato Printing (ages 7+)
  • 15 Feb – Basic Stitching (ages 11+)
  • 19 Feb – An introduction to making a panel
  • 22 Feb – Social gathering
