Twenty artists will be showcasing over ninety pieces of works as part of the summer Sculpture exhibition at Claremont Landscape Garden this summer. Organised by Surrey Sculpture Society, visitors will be able to explore sculptures in a variety of mediums and styles while walking round the lake at Claremont.

The fully accessible trail around Claremont’s central serpentine lake and surrounding areas brings a fascinating, visual dimension to one of the best-surviving examples of a classic 18th century landscaped garden. Created by some of the nation’s greatest and most innovative landscape gardeners, Claremont was created as a place for pleasure and relaxation, providing the perfect backdrop for the new trail.

Featuring a variety of artists – from emerging talent to well-known professionals – the Surrey Sculpture Society exhibition is the highlight of the Society’s 30th anniversary celebrations this year. All the works of art will be for sale, with a percentage of the money raised going to Claremont to continue the National Trust’s work to develop the garden. With a wide variety of materials used, including bronze, glass, ceramic and stone, there is sure to be a sculpture to appeal to everyone!

Miranda Barber, the SSS exhibition manager, commented: “We are delighted to be preparing for a new sculpture trail this summer at the historic Claremont Landscape Garden.  The stunning gardens are a perfect backdrop to showcase this varied and interesting collection of original artworks.”

With striking vistas and playful architectural features like the grass amphitheatre, serpentine lake and grotto, a walk around Claremont has always been a pleasure for visitors and guests.

Rhona MacCallum, general manager of Claremont Landscape Garden, added: “We are excited to welcome Surrey Sculpture Society to Claremont for the first time, especially in their 30th year. We are looking forward to seeing the garden enriched by original art works and hope our visitors will enjoy this new dimension.”

The exhibition will be open every day from 10am – 5pm, from 8 June – 14 July inclusive.  The trail is free but normal National Trust admission charges apply.  Parking and café on-site.  Search Claremont Landscape Garden.
